Staunton Police Release 2007
Crime & Accident Statistics

The City of Staunton Police Department has released its 2007 crime and accident statistics. 

The report shows that the overall number of serious offenses is down about 13 percent for the year.  There were no reported homicides for the year, although the number of rapes rose by 2 over the 2006 figure.

The report indicated that there were 704 property crimes reported during 2007, or 66 % of all serious crimes reported.  The average losses for city burglaries and larcenies was given as $318.25, a substantial drop from the 2006 average of $1,021.12.  There were 2,667 arrests during 2007 and 92 % were of adults.  Only 8 % were juvenile.

The department's clearance rate in 2007 was 54 %, up significantly from the 44 % reported in 2006.
